Dear Dad and Bern,

Got your letter today. One of the best things about the Navy is getting letters, it makes me feel at home.
No I don't get 2 qts of milk a day, but almost that much. Next letter I'll send you a menu of the meals we have for the coming week. The meals are exelent (some spelling). To night we had beets, roast beef, boiled potatoes, lettuce, cake. milk, and bread and butter. For dinner southern fried chicken (ahem) buttered mixed vegetables, tomato salad, potatoes, apple pie, milk, bread and butter. For breakfast, toast, jam, beans, hot cereal, milk, bread and butter. We get chicken or turkey at least 3 times a week and boy is it good. The oatmeal is the best I've ever had (no shit).
Today we had our last shot, a double dose of tetenus (lock jaw) which makes 7 in all. Now I can get bite by dogs, struck with rusty nails and the such to my hearts content Ha Ha.
We also had our third weekly test today, I passed so far.
Our first sea bag inspection was today (you knew, this was a rough day.)
Being in the choir, I get to go to a dance Sat. night. Many Many Waves (ahhh.) This makes me the envy of all the guys in our co. (I'm the only one in our co.) Ha Ha. I think I'll get my first liberty 2 weeks from Sun. I plan on going to Kenosha to see old friends. If at all possible, try to come down.
I may get off for Thanksgiving allso but I doubt it. So far I think I'll graduate the 20th and leave the 21st. If I pass all my tests and don't fool around, I should make it on schedule.
Well, we are having a general clean up now, for the big inspection tomorrow. The big brass inspector and he knows just where to look for dirt.
They are hollowing for me now. So long

Love
Dave B
