In early August we learned that we had won our second consecutive E. Captain Kauffman himself put on the finishing touches,
but he was in Washington with the other recently selected Rear Admirals when Admiral Keith came to present the award to the ship.

Our final week was marked by an on-board reception for over 600 shipyard employees and their families, including Captain Curtze, Hunter's Point's Commanding Officer. The day before we left the yards we presented LT Bress with a plaque in appreciation for his untiring efforts as ships supe.
