The School District of Mishicot is staying active during these cold winter months, with a
multitude of recent and upcoming activities and achievements.

The district’s agriculture curriculum will soon be bolstered thanks to a $2,600 grant awarded
by DuPont Pioneer to Jamie Propson, agriculture educator and FFA advisor for the schools.
This grant will provide her the opportunity to attend CASE training, highly sought-after and intensive
curriculum workshops for agriculture educators. Propson will collaborate with other teachers from
across the nation this summer while attending an 11-day animal science workshop in Michigan.

Each of the hundreds of grant applications received by DuPont are reviewed and carefully
considered to pick only those which align closely with the company’s focus. It is an exciting time
for the district’s agriculture department as new science concepts and industry integration will be
brought back to the students at Mishicot. According to Propson, “This is one of the many ways
educators and administration at Mishicot continually seek new growth to better each students
individual learning experience.”

Congratulations to Riley Kelliher, 1st place winner, and Kally Krueger, 2nd place winner of the
Mishicot School District Geography Bee. Congratulations are also in order to Kaden Kowalski,
1st place winner, and Kate Kliment, 2nd place winner of the Mishicot School District Spelling Bee.
All students who competed should be proud of their excellent academic efforts.

On Friday, February 8th, the O.H. Schultz Elementary School Parents Group will be holding a
fundraiser in coordination with Pizza Ranch on Calumet Avenue in Manitowoc. From 4-7 p.m.,
10% of all dine in, carry out, and delivery sales, along with tips, will be donated to the Parents
Group. Over the past year, the Parents Group has contributed almost $7,000 towards events,
field trips, and activities. Fundraisers like this one help the group remain a major financial
contributor for school field trips, educational activities, and more. All you have to do is show up
and enjoy some tasty food!

A chili dinner sponsored by the Mishicot Lions Club and Mishicot FFA will be held at Mishicot
High School on Tuesday, February 9th. From 4:30- 7:00 p.m., community members can enjoy
an endless bowl of chili, drink & dessert. The cost for adults is $6.00 per person, children 3-14
are $3.00, and children 2 and under eat free. The dinner coincides with the night of the Playing
For Patients girl’s basketball game at the high school.

The Mishicot Senior Nutrition Site menu for the week of Feb. 1 is: Monday, hamburger stroganoff,
noodles, cooked carrots, plum halves, dessert; Wednesday, pizza tot casserole, green peas,
bread, marshmallow fruit salad; Friday, Super Bowl Party, bratwurst on a bun, cold potato salad,
