Happy New Year.

As each of us pauses to take a moment and look back at 2015 and ahead to what 2016 has in store,
I’m sure we all recognize the changes a new year brings.

One of those changes is to this very column. My name is Michael Steeber and I am happy to
introduce myself as the new author of the Mishicot column for the Herald Times Reporter.

I am a lifelong resident of the village and enjoy researching and documenting local history.
I graduated from Mishicot High School and even delivered the Herald Times Reporter
in the Mishicot area for a few years when I was younger. I hope to continue spreading the word
about the community through this column, thanks to the excellent contributions of Virginia Parlato.
I think I speak for everyone in the community when I offer my most sincere gratitude for the work
Virginia has done on this column for more than a decade.

Select musicians from Mishicot High School will perform a concert at 7 p.m. on Jan. 7 in the Capitol
Civic Centre in Manitowoc. These students participated in the first Big East Conference Honors
Choir and have shown their dedication and passion for music. Let’s wish them a successful evening.

Mishicot High School is also holding an Alumni Pep Band Night at 6 p.m. on Jan. 8. Current members
of the high school band and alumni will perform together in conjunction with the girl’s junior varsity
basketball game that evening.

It’s not too late to bring prom dresses to Main Street Coffee Haus and Bistro, 447 E. Main St. Girls
wishing to drop off a dress may still do so until Jan. 8 from 5 a.m. until 4 p.m. The doors will be open
to browse and purchase dresses Jan. 9 through Feb. 13. For more details, call 920-973-5558.

The Mishicot Senior Nutrition site menu for the week of Jan. 3 is: Monday, teriyaki chicken breast,
steamed rice, broccoli, pineapple tidbits, desert; Wednesday, split pea soup, half ham sandwich,
applesauce, desert; Friday, barbecue sandwich, diced potatoes, pork and beans, Jell-O.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas season and the start of a truly happy new year.

We have many upcoming events and festivities to look forward to in 2016.
